All aboard the winery wagon! This past weekend I was invited to birthday celebration out in Fredericksburg, TX. I was super excited because I had never experienced going on a wine tasting tour before, plus I’ve been wanting to learn more about wine… since I’m a newbie.
If you’re leaving from San Antonio heading to Fredericksburg, it’ll take about an hour and 15 minutes, but it’s well worth the drive. Our first stop on the wine tour was Fat Ass Ranch & Winery, a unique winery on Highway 290 between Stonewall and Fredericksburg know for its great wines and great times!

Once we arrived with our party of 7, my first impression was that the environment seemed fun and friendly. There were a ton of bachelorette parties arriving at this location ready to party and drink! On Saturday’s they have a live band with an outdoor area where you can sit outside with your wine and listen to the band or play horseshoes.

Fat Ass Ranch & Winery is more of a party place offering fast pace wine tastings. For $10 you can choose from the following types of wine tasting, and you even get to take home the wine glass that you used for your tasting!
Sweet Lineup-
- Sangria Blanca (My favorite wine during the tasting!)
- Watermelon
- Peach
- Strawberry Fields
- Prickly Pear
- Jala Raspberry Peno
Dry Tasting Lineup-
- TX Muscat
- Merlot
- Malbec
- Tempranillo
- Peach

The frozen sangria swirl mixed with the peach wine was my favorite drink during the wine tasting hands down! I love Sangria and also liked the peach wine during the sweet wine tasting so the two together tasted amazing! Pair that with live music and you have the perfect way to spend your Saturday afternoon. Oh! Did I mention they even gave the birthday boy a “Fat Ass Shot” of anything that he wanted? That definitely got the party started!

If you are looking for a great time and are not quite the wine connoisseurs or like the sweeter wines, then Fat Ass Ranch & Winery is the place for you and your friends!
